The Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria, CS-SUNN has called for stronger collaboration with the Dass Local Government Council to tackle child malnutrition.
CS-SUNN is implementing Partnership for Improving Nigeria Nutrition Systems, (PINNS 3.0), funded by the Gates Foundation in Bauchi State.
Bauchi State Coordinator of CS-SUNN, Ms Dabis Mwalike, who made the appeal during an advocacy visit to the Dass Local Government Council, said child malnutrition was a devastating condition that could lead to child mortality.
Ms Mwalike stressed the need for not only making budgetary provisions for nutrition programmes but also ensuring the timely release and full implementation of the approved funds.
The Chairman, Dass Local Government, Comrade Mohammed Jibo, represented by his deputy, Dr Isa Ya’u Hanakuka, said the council had already made budgetary provision for nutrition interventions in its 2026 budget.
He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to reducing malnutrition in the area, expressing optimism that ongoing interventions would significantly improve the nutritional status of children and other vulnerable groups.
The advocacy team included representatives of the Bauchi State Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination, the CS-SUNN national office in Abuja, Bauchi State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and other development partners.
