FRCN Warns Against Illegal Sale of its Land, Property Nationwide

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) has warned against the illegal sale and encroachment on its land and properties nationwide, cautioning the public against fraudsters and unauthorised individuals.

The Director-General of FRCN, Dr Mohammed Bulama, in a statement, clarified that no Corporation-owned land or property had been put up for sale, contrary to claims by some individuals.

The statement explains that the Corporation’s ongoing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements were designed to unlock the economic value of underutilised land assets while retaining ownership of the properties.

It says the initiative complied with the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission Act 2005, the National Policy on Public-Private Partnership and relevant Federal Government guidelines.

According to the statement, strategic assets, including No. 45 Martins Street, Marina, Lagos, and properties in Enugu, Ibadan and other locations, had previously been sold by the disbanded Presidential Implementation Committee without recourse to FRCN.

It says the Corporation adopted the Design, Finance, Build, Operate and Transfer model to attract private investment, generate revenue and support the renewal of ageing broadcast infrastructure.

The statement adds that ongoing Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects in Lagos, Ibadan, Owerri and Kaduna would promote institutional sustainability, stimulate economic activities and strengthen broadcasting operations, while urging Nigerians to avoid dealings with unauthorised land sellers.
