Supervisors for the distribution of Insecticide-Treated Nets ITNs in Bauchi State have been warned against engaging in sharp practices capable of undermining the integrity of the exercise.
The Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Malaria BACATMA, Dr Adamu Umar Sambo, gave the warning when he visited the training centre for Local Government and ward supervisors in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area.
Dr Adamu Umar Sambo said the state government and its international partners had invested significant resources in the exercise to ensure its success and contribute to the prevention of malaria across the state.
He warned that any official found engaging in malpractice would face appropriate disciplinary measures.
The BACATMA Executive Chairman urged the supervisors to discharge their responsibilities diligently, stressing that the state expects the exercise to achieve its intended objectives.
Earlier, the Director of Malaria at the Global Health Supply Chain Programme, Procurement and Supply Management, Dapo Adekunle, stressed the need for supervisors to ensure that the ITNs are distributed in an accountable and transparent manner.
Dapo Adekunle urged the supervisors not to allow themselves to be influenced or used by anyone to compromise the exercise.
He commended the Bauchi State Government for its support and commitment towards the successful implementation of the ITN distribution programme.
The Director Malaria emphasis that the supervisors were carefully choosing base on their experience in the previous malaria elimination activities and urge them to safeguard their integrity.
Radio Nigeria learned that house-to-house mobilisation for the issuance of cards to beneficiaries of the ITN distribution exercise is scheduled to commence on Sunday, 6 September 2026.
