The Bauchi State Government has organised a two-day workshop on pre-retirement planning and transition management for civil servants approaching retirement.
Declaring the workshop open, the State Head of Civil Service, Mohammed Sani Umar, said retirement is an important phase of life that requires adequate preparation before leaving active service.
Mohammed Sani Umar, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Establishment and SERVICOM Matters Bureau, Dawood Mahmoud Yakubu, said the training was designed to equip participants with knowledge and skills in financial literacy, health management and post-service engagement.
He noted that the state government had continued to process pension payments promptly to retirees as part of efforts to ease the challenges associated with retirement.
According to the State Head of Service, 50 civil servants are participating in the training, and call on them to utilise the skills and experience acquired during their years in public service to venture into farming, business and other entrepreneurial activities after retirement.
The Head of Civil Service also urged the participants to ensure proper handover of their responsibilities in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies before exiting the service.
Earlier, the Managing Director of WhiteBrain Consult, Suleman Yakubu, said the workshop was designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and tools for managing life after public service.
He explained that the training focused on key areas including retirement planning, financial management, entrepreneurship, lifestyle adjustment and the psychological aspects of transitioning from active service to retirement.
