A Security Expert Comrade Abdullahi Yelwa says the complexity of Security challenges in Nigeria needs the effort of government at the Centre, subnational governments, communities, individuals, organisations as well as military hardware and intelligence from foreign countries.
Comrade Abdullahi Yelwa stated this on Iya Ruwa, a Globe FM Bauchi Hausa audience participatory programme while discussing the topic Internal Security Challenges, Dialogue with Bandits and US military intervention.
Yelwa who is a lecturer with the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic ATAP Bauchi, said the complex nature of insecurity which include banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, successionist agitations, farmers/herders conflict, among others cannot be addressed by the federal government alone, hence the need for a formidable force involving all segments of the society.
He said the government must ensure there is the feeling of justice among citizens especially as it relates to punishing perpetrators of crimes irrespective of social standings, fighting poverty, drug abuse among others.
The Security Expert further advocated the continuous training and retraining of security personnel, creation of a special security outfit for VIPs to hire their services for protection to ensure improved service delivery.
Some callers to the programme, Danlami Barjanga, Musa Noma Jari, Usman Danfulani Rambaya, Usaini Tashar Mai Alewa among others emphasised the need for equal justice among people, speedy dispensation of justice on perforators of violence and the need to end ransom payment towards overcoming the menace.
