The National Orientation Agency, NOA has expressed readiness to partner the Nigerian Army towards promoting national unity and patriotism among citizens of the country.
The Director General of the agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, stated this when he received the Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Nigerian Army, Major General Musa Awal Etsu-Ndagi on a courtesy visit to the NOA headquarters in Abuja.
Mallam Issa-Onilu attributed the challenges faced in the area of unity to exploitation of ethnic and religious differences by some people who do not mean well for the country.
He said effective collaboration between the civilian population and the military would only be achieved through continues public awareness and sensitisation.
While emphasising the need for a balanced and evidence-based reportage to complement security operations, the Director General commended the Nigerian Army Chief of Civil Military Affairs for his intention to partner the Agency in that direction.
In his remark, Major General Etsu-Ndagi said the visit was aimed at exploring collaborative ways of informing the public on the policies and programmes of the federal government especially as it relates to the Nigerian Army.
General Ndagi expressed concern over the increasing spread of misinformation particularly on social media platforms, assuring the agency of the Nigerian Army’s support towards promoting unity and patriotism while building national cohesion.
