Kano Police, Yankari Express Bauchi Debunk Misleading Banditry Video.
Yankari Express Corporation, the leading transport Company of Bauchi State has described as rumour and misleading a video circulating on Social Media indicating that its vehicles are hoarding bandits and aiding in banditry activities across its transport routes.
The General Manager of the Corporation, Engineer Babaji Isa Yunusa who stated this at a press conference said the video was recorded and posted on Facebook by an unknown individual.
Engineer Babaji Yunusa said in the video, the individual was claiming that a passenger wearing a dress full of charms taken from Sokoto to Kano state was a bandit who was allegedly hoarding arms and ammunitions.
He said in the reels video, the alleged amateur videographer was heard speaking hausa dialect that security personnel and members of dala division apprehended a vehicle belonging to Yankari Express with arms and ammunitions meant for Kidnappers.
The General Manager who said the alleged vehicle which wears the company’s paint and name had neither a plate number nor the certified sticker issued by the corporation to all it vehicle certify fleet.
According to him, the company runs two types of transits, the Company Vehicles CV and Lease Vehicles LV which mostly run on inter and intra states basis.
Engineer Babaji said there are instances were LV vehicles which are on franchise, do not renew the annual contractual agreement with the company leading to unlawful activities by the owners especially when the vehicles are sold out without removing the corporation’s trade mark.
The GM Yankari Express noted that all LV franchise contracts are reviewed yearly with the certified Stickers redesigned annually for security reasons.
He said the Corporation has embarked on reforms to reposition its operations to ensure that every franchise vehicle is certified to be fit before integrating it into its fleet.
Reacting to the purported online video, the Police Public Relations Officer Kano State command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa in a video message dispelled the said content by the unknown amateur videographer as false, noting that the two persons are being investigated and the allegations of fire arms and banditry links were preemptive and concocted lies.
