The 1995 set of Government Science Secondary School Toro has organized a reception in honour of some distinguish members of the school’s old boys association for their contributions to the development of the state and beyond.

In a welcome address, Chairman of the 1985 set Alhaji Muhammad Alhassan Sadiq said the aim of the meeting was to celebrate their 40th anniversary and to poster unity among the members of the alma mater.

Alhaji Muhammad Alhassan Sadiq enumerated their achievements that include renovation and furnishing of five classrooms and toilets, provision of desks and benches as well as 50 solar power lights.

In a good will message, the state commissioner of education Dr Lawan Rimim Zayam represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Ali Babayo commended them for the giant stride to support the school and prayed Allah to reward them.

Rimim Zayam who called on other members of the alumni to emulate the 1985 set said Governor Bala Muhammad is committed to reposition the education sector and provision of dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

In a presentation entitled, a Good Students – Teacher Relationship as a Crucial Foundation for Success in Life, Alhaji Hamidu Kadai – Kuka noted that a success of good teachers is tied to the lives they shape.

Hamidu Kadai – Kuka who was a teacher of the set commended them for their foresight to reunite and contribute to the development of the school and urged them to sustain the momentum.

In their goodwill messages, the state PDP Chairman, Pharmacist Sama’ila Adamu Burga and the Emir of Dass Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman who were also old students of the school pledged to support the association to excel.

In a remark, the representative of the National President of the association Nuruddeen Yusuf who said they are committed to register with Corporate Affairs Commission CAC enjoined all members to be focused towards achieving the desired goals.

Nuruddeen Yusuf charged members of the Alma mata to initiate endowment funds for the assistance of the families of the 42 deceased members of the association and the school at all times.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to the members of the association that have excel in various fields of endeavour that include public and civil service, the academia, diplomats amongst others.
