The Bauchi State Government has warned people against diversion of the soon to be distributed Insecticide-Treated Mosquito Nets ITNs in the state.
With over four million nets distributed across the state in the last three years, the Insecticide-Treated Nets significantly reduces malaria cases and deaths by creating a protective physical and chemical barrier against mosquitoes.
The Executive Chairman State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDs, Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Malaria BACATMA Dr. Adamu Sambo sounded the warning during a Media parley in preparation for the 2026 Insecticide-Treated Nets mass campaign in the state.
Dr Adamu Sambo who cautioned the officials recruited for the exercise against any shoddy deal in the distribution of the ITN stated that anyone found wanting would face full wrath of the law.
He further explained that preparations for the distribution have reached an advanced stage with five million ITNs earmarked for distribution across the twenty local government area of the state.
The BACATMA Executive Chairman appealed to the media to educate the public about the distribution schedule to achieve the desired objectives.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman Advocacy Co-working Group Khadi Abdullahi Yakubu Marafa and Chairman of the Council of Ulama Bauchi State chapter Sheikh Dan’azumi Tafawa Balewa commended the state government and development partners for their efforts towards reducing malaria cases in the state.
The Stakeholders who described malaria as a disease with huge devastating effect, promised continued support to the agency towards eliminating it.
