The Executive Chairman of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bappah Aliyu Muhammed, has sworn in all the 19 councillors elect, charging them to carry out their responsibilities with diligence and a strong sense of commitment.
The ceremony, which took place in Alkaleri, marks the official commencement of administrative activities for the new council leadership following the recently conducted local government elections across the state.
Administering the oath of office, the Executive Chairman reminded them about the responsibilities entrusted in them by the people across their respective wards, hence the need for them to deliver on the mandate by representing their interests and contributing to the development of the area.
Bappah urged the councillors to work as a team, stressing that cooperation, mutual respect and unity are essential to the success of the new administration.
He advised them to always place the welfare of the people above personal interests and ensure they discharge their legislative duties honestly, transparently and in accordance with the laws governing local government administration.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman had pledged to deliver the dividends of democracy to every nook and cranny of the council, noting that his administration would focus on projects and programmes that directly impact the lives of people in Alkaleri local government area.
Bappah Muhammad assured to operate an open-door policy and consult traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, women and other stakeholders in identifying the developmental needs of people in various communities.
He called for continued support to the new administration, expressing confidence that with unity and dedication, the council would achieve meaningful progress and fulfill the mandate given to it by the electorate.
