The Bauchi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment towards empowering women in various spheres of life to enabling them reach their full potential.
The State Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Shehu Usman Shehu stated this during the opening ceremony of a two day skill capacity building workshop for women in Bauchi.
The workshop, organized by the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Bauchi State chapter in collaboration with the State Ministry of Information, aims to enhance the capacity of women journalists.
Alhaji Shehu Usman Shehu emphasized that building the capacity of women journalists will foster a more inclusive, equitable and comprehensive media landscape.
The Commissioner encouraged NAWOJ members to seize every opportunity available to them, just like their male counterparts, to push forward and make meaningful contributions.
Ealiear, the Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, North East Zone, Mallam Dahiru Garba Mohammed urged women journalists to familiarize themselves with new media tools, given the rapidly changing media landscape.
The Chairperson of NAWOJ Bauchi, Hajiya Rashida Yusuf expressed gratitude to the Bauchi State Government for the opportunity and encouraged members to maximize the two-day training to enhance their skills and knowledge.
