FPTB: 36 Programmes Due for NBTE Accreditation.

About thirty six programmes in the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi are expected to undergo accreditation and reaccreditation process by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

The NBTE team will also conduct verification and resource inspection of facilities as part of the board’s mandate to ensure quality in the newly introduced skill acquisition programme by the institution for interested youth.

At the opening of the accreditation exercise, the Team Leader and Assistant Director in the NBTE, Mr. Fidelis Ogbonna noted that the exercise which was supposed to be conducted since last year but obstructed by the CoronaVirus pandemic would be done simultaneously by the team members who were carefully selected from various backgrounds in the nation’s institutions of higher learning.

Mr Ogbonna who expressed delight over the infrastructure put in place by the institution said it was strategic in the north east sub-region to run technical and vocational education courses as well as training.

On his part, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Architect Sanusi Waziri Gumau who said of the thirty six programmes to undergo the accreditation exercise, fourteen were new ones, explained that the new courses include eight National Diplomas (ND) and six Higher National Diplomas (HND).

He argued that the world was now changing to technical and vocational education, hence the resolve of the institution to expand its scope and provide opportunities for teaming youths in the country for rapid growth and development.

Architect Gumau assured that the polytechnic has all the requirements needed to run the technical and vocational programmes it applied for accreditation as TETfund rated it the first in research development in the North East Geo-Political Zone.

According to the Rector, for easy administration, the NBTE had chosen the institution to be the Zonal Office in the North East to coordinate Technical and Vocational Education in the region.
