Pharmacy Technicians Urged to Shun Corrupt Practices

Bill and Melinda Gates College of Health Technology, Ningi, in Bauchi State, has inducted and offered certificates to twenty six Pharmacy Technicians who graduated from the college, with a call on them to exhibit high sense of professionalism while discharging their assigned responsibility.

The inductees were the first set to have graduated in the year 2020 from the department Certified Pharmacy Technician department of the college after they scaled through the National Pre-Certification Examination for Pharmacy Technicians conducted by Pharmacist Council of Nigeria (PCN), the regulatory body responsible for the certification of Pharmacy Technicians in the country.

Addressing the inductees, Bauchi State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aliyu Maigoro represented by the Director Pharmaceutical Services in the State Hospitals Management Board, Abdulkadir Ahmad Galadi emphasized the need for the graduates to ensure good conduct while discharging their duty.

The Registrar of PCN, Elija Mohammed urged the inductees to consider their success in the Pre-Certification Examination as a stepping stone to serve the society.

Elija Mohammed who was represented by the North East Zonal Director Dr. Paul Ukaa Gar, said it is time for the Pharmacy Technicians to be given their rightful position in the country’s health sector.

The Guest Speaker, Professor Umar Usman Pate urged the inductees to shun any form of corruption that they may encounter in the course of their practice.

Professor Pate who frowned at the current societal problem, where corruption became a norm, implored the inductees to do away with all forms of the ungodly acts, to have a better society.

He also urged the institution’s authority to establish an anti-corruption unit, to check excesses of any form of malpractice in the college.

Also speaking, the former Provost of the College Dr. Mohammed Sambo Alkali who was the initiator of the programme, called on the state ministry of health to consider the best graduates by granting them scholarships to further their education.

On his part, the provost of the college Alhaji Garba Hussaini pledged to sponsor the best graduands to further their education and absurd them into the college, as Graduate Assistants.

Alhaji Husaini urged other students of the college to strive hard in their academic pursuits for them to graduate with flying colours.

The Pioneer Head of the Certified Pharmacy Technicians department, Pharmacist Ibrahim Muhammad who expressed delight over the success recorded within his three years of leadership, appreciated God Almighty and all key players for the actualization and success of the programme and advised the graduands not to rely on white-collar job, instead they should put the acquired entrepreneurship skills into practice so as to be self-reliants.

In a Speech on behalf of his colleagues Almustapha Ahmad Bello, a recipient of nine different awards expressed gratitude to the school’s management, lecturers, and the state government for the provision of an enabling environment that paved the way for their success.

Almustapha Bello is the Best Graduating student with 3.82 Cumulative Grade Points Average, CGPA, in the college’s four points grading system.

The inductees bear Oath of allegiance, as administered by the representative of the Registrar of PCN.
