The House of Representatives Subcommittee on the review of the 1999 constitution has been enjoined to come up with the acceptable national working document that would recognize the interest of Nigerians
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State who made the call at Bauchi Centre of the Zonal Public Hearing for the review of 1999 Constitution said there are alot of gaps in the present constitution which need to be addressed
Bala Mohammed who presented the state’s prayers to include creation of New Katagum State and more local governments, recognizing the role of traditional institutions, review of revenue allocation formula and establishment of the states police also explained that the state is not againsing the federal system of government.
The Governor called on the committee to treat all the submissions with just and fair and ensure timely completion of the national assignment.
In his remark, the Chairman of the Committee Aminu Sulaiman from Kano state said they would entertain submissions from Government, Nongovernmental Organizations, groups and individuals which will be subjected to further legislative action.
He called of the support and cooperation of the state government and relevant stakeholders towards successful conduct of the exercise.
