Public primary and secondary schools across nine Local Government areas of Bauchi State have benefited from learning materials under the initiative of Better Education Service Delivery for All, BESDA.
The move was to improve literacy in focal areas of Northernern parts of the country and reduce the number of out of school children.
Speaking during flagging off of the distribution and commissioning of 2019 UBEC/SUBEB intervention projects in Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed said provision of conducive environment would enhance provision of quality education
Bala Mohammed noted that his administration has expended the sum of eight point five billion naira as counterpart Fund on intervention programmes which involved construction and renovation of eight hundred and sixty four blocks of classrooms and provision of over fourteen thousand furniture for primary pupils across the state.
He assured the continuous support of the state government towards sustainability of Programme for the betterment of education system.
In their addresses, the representative of UBEC Dr. Bala Zakari and the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB Dr Surumbai Dahiru Bauchi said learning has already commenced at all the benefiting local government areas.
According to them adequate arrangements have been made for the successful Implementation of the programme.
Items distributed include exercise and textbooks, writing materials, mobility carts for students with special needs, uniforms among others.
