-

The Committe set-up by Bauchi State Government to verify those omitted in the civil service payroll has commenced the physical screening exercise across the three senatorial zones with assurance of resolving all the outstanding issues of non-payment of salaries before the end April this year.

This is in compliance with the recent resolution of the state executive council meeting presided over by Governor Bala Muhammad on the need to address the lingering salary problem for both the state and local government workers.

When a team of journalists inspected the conduct of the exercise at Alkaleri local government area, the Committe was attending to the affected civil servants numbering to two hundred and eigt with different forms of cases that led to their omittion from the payroll.

Speaking on their experience, one of the committee Members and Deputy Accountant General Inspectorate Muhammad Sagir Abdullahi said most of the problems identified were mistake in account and Bank verification numbers, names mismatched and reversal of salary payment due to network problem.

He assured that those cleared by the committee will receive their outstanding salaries in one week time calling on all affected workers to present documents that would prove their cases.

Also Speaking the Chairman of Alkaleri local government Alh Yusuf Garba who commended the Governor for the commitment called for support and cooperation towards the success of the exercise.

Yusuf Garba who is the ALGON Chairman described the decision to allow the local councils manage the nominal and payroll of their workers as a step in right direction.

Some of the affected persons who expressed gratitude to the government maintained that the move would address their plights.
