In the efforts to tackle and act promptly on the issues of rape cases, Bauchi House of Assembly has mandated its Committee on Women Affairs to make a close contact on the allegedly rape cases of under age girls recently happen in Shira, Toro and Bauchi local governments area of the state.
This followed a motion under matters of urgent public importance moved by member representing Shira Constituency Bello Mu’azu Shira on the need to ensure justice has done on the issues.
Bello Mu’azu who expressed worry on the rampant cases of rape noted that last week a 45 year old man committed same devilish work on a 7 year old girl in Faggo town of Shira Local Government stressed the need to bring an end to the menace.
The lawmaker revealed that the suspect escape from relevant authority handling the case urged the house to strongly intervene and take decisive measures on the matter in order to bring the suspect into book.
The lawmaker recalled that the house has recently passed into law a bill on Violence Persons Prohibition to curtails the rising rape cases across the state.
Still during the plenary, the house has adopted the report recommendations of it’s committee on works and transport on its assignment to investigate the remote cause of the fire out break at Bababa plaza in wunti market.
The committee recommended that about eighty two shops burnt to ashes and properties worth over one hundred and twenty million naira lost in the inferno.
It’s also observed that government has approved the sum of three point five million naira for the repairs of fire fighting equipments in the stations of Bauchi, Azare, Jama’are, Misau, Ningi and Dass Local Governments.
