Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has Matriculated 240 degree students for the 2020/2021 academic session under the Directorate of University Affiliations and Linkages.
The students were admitted under the Faculties of Environmental Technology as well as Engineering and Engineering Technology in affiliation with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University ATBU Bauchi.
Speaking shortly after the oath taking by the admitted students, the Vice Chancellor ATBU Professor Muhammad Abdulaziz Ahmad said out of the number, 132 are in the faculty of environmental technology while the remaining 108 would study engineering courses.
Represented by the Chairman Central Screening Committee of the University Professor Mansur Malunfashi, the Vice Chancellor who warned the matriculated students against examination malpractice, drug abuse, truancy and sexual misdemeanor among others, said all criteria for academic pursuit have met.
Professor Abdulaziz Ahmad urged them to observe all COVID 19 protocols to include wearing of face masks and observing social distance to prevent the spread of the virus.
He expressed gratitude to Bauchi State government for its effort in the education sector, especially the plan to establish the Oil and Gas institute at Alkaleri local government area of the state.
In a welcome address, the Rector Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Architecture Sanusi Waziri Gumau appreciated the management of ATBU Bauchi for accepting to affiliate nine degree programs with the institution.
Architect Waziri Gumau who promised to fulfill all criteria, said the polytechnic has all facilities to pursue the degree programme.
The Director University Affiliations and Linkages of the Polytechnic Dr Dalhatu Sa’ad Abubakar said the program is a window created by the institution to teeming applicants who could not secure admission for University degree.
Dr Dalhatu Abubakar said the requirements and mode of study to include JAMB cut off mark, credit load and program duration are the same with that of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University.
Speaking to Radio Nigeria, some of the Matriculated students Tamida Markus from Environmental Engineering and Muhammad Auwal who expressed joy for getting the opportunity to study, promised to abide by all rules and regulations guiding their stay at the institution.
The Registrar Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Malam Ahmed Garba Hassan administered the oath to the Matriculated students.
