PCN Warns PPMVL Holders Against Sharp Practices.

Pharmacists Council of Nigeria has warned owners of Patent Medicine Shops (PMS) and holders of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendor License (PPMVL) against engaging in any sharp practice that contravenes the terms and conditions of their operations.

The Bauchi State PCN Officer, Mr Bakwa Nenlep sounded the warning at a one-day Orientation for PPMVL and owners of Patent Medicine Shops, tagged Continuing Education Programme 2021, held in Bauchi.

Mr Bakwa Nenlep who urged PPMVL holders and PMS owners to adhere strictly to the laid down rules of practice, warned that the law would not be favourable to anyone found indulging in unhealthy practice.

He also called on those who were yet to register or renew their licenses to do so with the council before the end of March 2021.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Aliyu Maigoro represented by the Director Pharmaceutical Services of the Ministry, Umar Garba Gumau, said the state government was doing all within its capacity to ensure that all drugs being dispensed to the public, were safe and consumable.

On his part the State Director National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Alhaji Bashir Mu’azu called on the participants to always patronize verified and approved medicines adding that the agency would not condone any sharp practice by PPMVL or PMS owners.

Also speaking, the President of the National Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine (NAPPMED) Bauchi State Chapter, Alhaji Abdu Tukur Azare who appreciated the State Ministry of Health and PCN for organizing the orientation said it would go a long way to enhance their operations.

Some of the participants interviewed, Magaji Hamza and Ango Joseph said the orientation has widened their horizon and promised to play by the rules guiding the practice.

The Continuing Education Programme Drawn participants from all the 20 local government areas of the state.
