Bauchi state government has signed into law a bill for establishment of Oil and Gas institution in Alkaleri Local Government area of the state
The decision for establishment of the institution aimed at providing technical courses, training and research in the Oil and Gas industry was informed by the recent actualization of Oil in commercial quantity in the Local Government.
Our correspondent Isiyaka Ismail Wunti reports that two other bills to include a law on Tree planting and other Environmental related matters as well as the law on mager of Bauchi State Investment Corporation and Bauchi State Investment Promotion Agency were signed into law by Governor Bala Muhammad.
Speaking after appending his signature, Governor Bala Muhammad said arrangements are being concluded for commencement of the Oil and Gas training in the state polytechnic pending the completion of the proposed permanent site at the Alkaleri local government area.
Bala Muhammad noted that the programme aimed at providing technical and other manpower to facilitate the oil exploration is to be run in partnering with relevant national and international bodies.
On the law about Tree Planting and other environmental related matters, Bala Muhammad said the move was to effectively regulate cases of deforestation which posed environmental degradation.
Earlier the speaker of the State House of Assembly Abubakar Sulaiman commended the Governor for introducing policies and programmes that have direct bearing on the citizens
According to the speaker, the assembly has accelerate passage of the bills considering their importance in improving the social economic status of the state.
