The National Union of Bauchi State Students, NUBASS, has called on government at all levels to bridge the technology gap in the education sector for rapid socio-economic development of the country.
NUBASS President, Comrade Abdurrahman Shu’aibu made the call during a press conference, at the NUJ Secretariat in Bauchi.
Comrade Shu’aibu explained that Nigeria was lagging behind in terms of technological advancement, especially in the education sector, hence the need for governments to invest more in that direction.
He also appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to extend the tenure of Professor Sulaiman Bogoro as Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, considering the provision of infrastructure and other facilities put in place under his leadership in various tertiary institutions of learning across the country.
The NUBASS President therefore called on President Buhari and the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu to consider the Union’s appeal for the TETFUND Executive Secretary to consolidate the gains so far recorded.
