Bauchi State Signs 70 Million Dollars MOU On Waste Power Generation.

Bauchi state government is to facilitate installation of alternative power source of ten mega watt in the state to improve internally generated revenue and generate employment opportunities.

The waste recycling power energy was also aimed at resustating the airling industries across the state and attracting local and foreign investors.

While signing the memorandum of understanding between the state government and a London based firm, Power DOT UK, Governor Bala Muhammad said the initiative would generate employment to over two thousand people and create better opportunity for economic development.

Bala Muhammad said the development is caming at the time his administration is struggling to look for alternative means of economic diversification with a view discourage dependance on Federal allocations.

On the level of preparedness of the state government in actualizing the project, Governor Bala Muhammad said all the necessary support including the project site, operational licence would be provided towards successful take-up of the power plant.

He expressed the state government readiness to partner investors in critical sectors of economy for the overall development of the state.

Speaking, the Managing Director of the firm Amb Anthony Esere said the company has the capacity to process over sixty eight thousand metric tone of waste per annum, noting that seventy million dollars was earmarked for the investment into the project.

Earlier, the Director General of the State Environmental Protection Agency BASEPA Dr. Ibrahim Kabir, said the agency would be providing the needed waste for the company to sustain the power generation.

According to him, the initiative would contribute in sustaining the regular environmental sanitation and improve the well-being of people.
